A Data Association shows how data flows between Data Elements, Activities and Events in a Process.
Each Data Association has a source and a target.
A Data Association appears as a dotted line with an arrowhead.
You don’t have to provide the references for both the target and the source.
If the Activity or Event is the target of the Data Association, you need to select one of its Data Inputs to use as the target reference.
If the Activity or Event is the source of the Data Association, you need to select one of its Data Outputs to use as the source reference.
When working with Data Associations, you can either select existing references or create new ones depending on the direction of the flow.
You can create a new target or change the target reference when a Data Association flows into an Activity or Event.
You can create a new source or change the source reference when a Data association flows out of an Activity or Event.
You’ll find Data Association attributes within the Attributes panel, under the Attributes tab.
