Time parameters

Time parameters define time-related aspects of a business process element, capturing intervals from an external observer’s perspective.

Processing time

Processing time simulates how long each task takes to complete. It can be set using using the short format, long format or a distribution to account for variability and randomness in task durations.

Applicability

Time parameters can be applied to the following BPMN elements:

• Tasks
• Subprocesses — provided they are empty (without decomposition).
• Call activities — provided they are empty (without decomposition).
