Set the time it takes to complete a task to gain insight into process efficiency.
You can set the processing times using fixed values or choose from a variety of probability distributions.
Fixed values assign a specific, unchanging duration to a task. It’s best suited to tasks with a predictable time frame.
Probability distributions introduce an element of real-life to the simulation by allowing you to define a range of values over time that are statistically distributed according to the chosen distribution type.
You can also associate time parameters with a calendar to help you to predict how a task performs at different times.
To set the processing time on a task:
Select the task.
In the Parameters pane that opens, click
To set the parameter value, click the current setting.
In the dialog box that opens, select the type of processing time and set a value.
Type | Description |
---|---|
Short format | Set the time interval between triggers as one value in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years. For example, trigger an instance every 5 days. |
Long format | Set the time interval between triggers as multiple values. For example, trigger an instance every 3 days, 2 hours and 1 minute. |
Distribution | Every distribution has its own specific parameters. Select the distribution that best serves your purpose. |
Select the element.
In the Parameters pane, select the current setting.
In the dialog box that opens, make your edits.
